Week #90 - THE Best Time to be a Missionary!

BUT HOW TRUE IS THAT? I AM LITERALLY SO PUMPED THAT THE LORD HAS BLESSED US WITH PEOPLE TO TEACH! It's true though! We have been getting a steady flow of humble people who recognize that their life is falling apart and need to draw closer to God! Our arms are open people and we have all the time in the world for you. We get calls from other missionaries asking us how we find people, because they've called all of their former people being taught and it's kinda funny, cuz we've probably only called 50 of our formers. We've been so busy teaching! I'm so happy to be in Lake Charles, LA. The people here are PREPARED. Elder Nash and I are doing everything we can to become better disciples of Christ. It's tough, but possible!  We have been focusing on having more dignified language and I can notice a difference in the spirit I feel in the apartment :) It's helped us teach better too.

Now, the news y'all have been waiting for!

WE PUT TONYA ON DATE FOR BAPTISM ON MAY 2ND!!!!

Now who is Tonya? She is Brother Gary's cousin. We were eating dinner one night this week and we get a video call from Brother Gary, and he has us talk to Tonya. She tells us that she believes in a life before this life. Then Brother Gary said that he told her that we believe in that too! She was so excited to know that because she felt alone in that belief. Now she isn't ;) But Elder Nash and I then got a feeling to put her on date. So, we explained to her that when she does good things like read her scriptures and go to church, she feels good. She agreed. Then, we talked about how she could have that good feeling always, if she received the Gift of the Holy Ghost. We then invited her to be baptized and she said yes! She is so cool. We dropped off a Book of Mormon to her that night and she is so pumped to read it. I can't wait to help her progress.

SO, we have been going on a lot of walks to a pond this week, for our break time and it's quite nice. We've been making funny videos and stuff out there. But, it really gives me time to breathe and refocus. So don't worry about me going crazy, I have my walks to keep me sane. LOL

SPIRITUAL THOUGHT:

Moroni 9:11-13,20 says 

11 O my beloved son, how can a people like this, that are without civilization—

12 (And only a few years have passed away, and they were a civil and a delightsome people)

13 But O my son, how can a people like this, whose ^adelight is in so much abomination

20 And now, my son, I dwell no longer upon this horrible scene. Behold, thou knowest the wickedness of this people; thou knowest that they are without principle, and past feeling; and their wickedness doth ^aexceed that of the Lamanites.

So the Nephites used to be really good! They followed the Lord and were blessed for doing that! But now, they are deep in sin. They have driven the spirit away and are "past feeling." I thought about that. What does past feeling mean?  It means that they have gone so far in sin and rejected the promptings from the spirit to repent that they are basically "numb" to the guilt they feel. From this we can see that their civilization fell apart. They regressed without the light of the gospel and fell into darkness and were eventually destroyed. 

We can learn from this! We don't have to experience the bad consequences of sin because we can literally read about it in the Book of Mormon! Draw close to God instead of away! It's totally worth it y'all.
