Week #4 - Ooooo baby, it's Texas!!
HEYOOO!
Sooooo this has been a pretty awesome
week! It started off with me getting to meet my new companion/trainer Elder
Wood and he is pretty cool. He was in band so we have a couple of things in
common.
But, on my first real day out, I got to
meet a real cool convert named Curtis and he is THE man. He took us to dinner
and it was awesome. He also bought us matching ties to wear on Sunday, so that
was way cool. But yeah, we've seen him every day so far in different parts of
town haha.
We had some way cool experiences too. In one day, in one hour, we got 3 new
investigators, so that was really cool. It's
crazy to see the people we teach change as the spirit teaches them. It's way
cool.
I met a member named Brother Flores and
he's real cool too. He fed us twice this last week. He is always looking for
ways to help us out, so that's cool.
We have been biking a lot, but it's all
good! We sometimes ride on the highway
and that is where I come up with some good songs. It takes about 25 minutes to
bike across the whole area so that can be tiresome, but it's getting better and
I'm seeing the small miracles in my life. I have been getting really good at
judging when a hill is coming and have been able to shift gears like a
pro. 😎
I got to meet the ward mission leader
guy and his name is Brother Richardson. He's a cool guy who cares a lot about
getting the less actives back in the ward. So yeah he has a lot of great
ideas.
But on Sunday I was introduced to the
ward and that was cool. (Oh by the way, people here pronounce Humble like
'umble) The Humble Ward is awesome. They are way small too. I guess I am just used to AZ wards haha. There
was barely anyone in the pews. But it's all good, we have about 150 less
actives to reactivate. So we'll fill the ward right back up 😎😎😎.
Elder Wood and I got to teach the 12-13
year olds about eternal families and marriage so that was cool. Then we sat
next to Curtis for priesthood meeting and he gave us some candy so that was
sweet 😉.
Buuuut yeah today has been goood. P-day
is always good. I've been reading the Book of Mormon in depth and it's been
real cool.
Oh and all y'all in Arizona, if you run
into an Elder Summerhays, Crestani, Kirk, or Brandley, you gotta befriend them
right away cuz they are some cool fellas. (We were all at the MTC together and they are in the Arizona Gilbert
Mission now.)
Oooo we met this guy named Master
Gregory and he is a real character. He is a musician for his Baptist church and
he is chill and a lil crazy but good overall.
Buuuut yeah besides all that, Texas is
real good and the sweat is better. I am learning a lot and can't wait for what
every new day has in store for me!
Y'all rock,
-Elder Furphy 😉😎😃😲😇😬
Dogs!

Some great skies here!
A great Bible
Looks like Nick is settling in. Very nice. As his Dad, I am excited to watch him grow spiritually. This area is a good introduction to Texas for him.
