Week #90.4 - Corona Days: neat findings

Tonight, I soaked me feet in the tub for 20 minutes, while reading, "A Marvelous Work and a Wonder" by Legrand Richards, with soft classical music in the background. It was VERY relaxing ☺️. I feel so at peace now haha.

So we made some sweet
goals in our weekly planning session yesterday. One of those was to say our
morning companionship prayers at the little pond next to our apartment, instead
of next to our beds. So that's what we did this morning haha. It was neat to say
a morning comp prayer with birds chirping all around you and the crickets
chirping still. I think we're gonna keep doing it 😏.

We talked to some cool
people today. One of them was trying to low-key bash us, but we were so nice
that we all ended the call as friends, instead of feeling contentious. That
right there was a testimony to me that the spirit can soften any heart. I don't
like it when people bash me, so I'm not gonna bash them. He was very nice, at
the end.
We got in contact with
Tonya today and she was very happy to talk with us! She wants to read the Book
of Mormon tomorrow at 11am, so that is gonna be sweet! We may have to move her
date for baptism back (sidenote: there
was totally thunder just now ⚡😍😎) a couple days
because of certain things she’s gotta start living. But she's really wants to be
baptized still so that's AWESOME. She is super prepared.
We've been working
with a lot of less active members too. I
think it's starting to pay off because we're getting a lot of positive
responses from us inviting them to get more involved with gospel living. We basically treat them as any active member
and leave them with the same commitments to be missionaries, as we would with
an active member because we know they can receive inspiration from the spirit
just as well as Elder Nash can eat 50 burritos in 5 minutes (he's a super-fast
eater and is good at it. No messes involved here ladies and gents. Straight
FACTS.) I think they really appreciate that. We've been meeting with them
consistently and reading scriptures to strengthen their testimony again. It's
cool to hear the light come back into their voices over the phone.
Spiritual thought!!!!!
1 Nephi 8:7-10
7 And it came to pass
that as I followed him I beheld myself that I was in a dark and dreary waste.
8 And
after I had traveled for the space of many hours in darkness, I began to pray
unto the Lord that he would have mercy on me, according to the multitude of his
tender mercies.
9 And it
came to pass after I had prayed unto the Lord I beheld a large and spacious
field.
10 And it
came to pass that I beheld a tree, whose fruit was desirable to make one happy
I love Lehi's vision
of the Tree of Life. It's so cool! I wanted to focus on this part because it
wasn't until AFTER Lehi prayed that he was able to see his end goal with the
help of Heavenly Father. It's his prayer, which was an act of humility and faith
that caused direction to come to him. He was lost in the dark, tried to go on
his own for many hours, but couldn't. When he turned to God, the lights turned
on.
Think about this in
our OWN lives...
Sometimes, we try to
go in the darkness (life in the world) for as long as we can. We might even
think we know the way and how to navigate the darkness. But we can't. We NEED
to have God with us! It isn't until after we pray that God can help us. Praying
for help shows 1. Humility and 2. Love. We recognize our weakness and ask God
to help us through the darkness. And He will.
I love y'all!
Have a great
night,
Elder Furphy 🌃😘😎😎
