Ooo baby! This is a quick update, cuz Monday is around the corner. But I really wanted to share something I learned today! 😁😁
First off, the work has never been better and I will talk more on it on Monday. But we have some SUPER exciting news! Tune in on Monday to hear all about it 😉. But we have been teaching nonstop! It's so cool.
Now for what I learned!
I studied about goal setting today and how I can STRETCH!
In Preach My Gospel, chapter 8, it talks about setting goals that make you stretch! Sometimes you might get comfortable with what you can do and not think that there is room for improvement, but the Lord says otherwise 😉😅.
I want to share some examples from the scriptures where God helps prophets stretch! The prophets are:
- Enoch
- Moses
- Jeremiah
Here's Enoch's story found in Moses 6:31:
31 And when Enoch had heard these words, he bowed himself to the earth, before the Lord, and spake before the Lord, saying: Why is it that I have found favor in thy sight, and am but a lad, and all the people hate me; for I am slow of speech; wherefore am I thy servant?
What does Enoch focus on? His flaws! Like most of us do... This will be a theme for the rest. Here are Enoch's "flaws":
- "I'm a lad"
- "People hate me"
- "Slow of speech"
These seem pretty legit. I don't think I'd want people hating me.
Let's look at Moses' reasons in Exodus 4:10:
10 ¶ And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
- Not eloquent
- Slow of speech
- Slow of tongue
He felt he couldn't speak very well. Sometimes I feel that way too.
Finally, we have Jeremiah's concerns in Jeremiah 1:6:
6 Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
- I cannot speak
- I am a child
All three of these great prophets at one point really didn't believe they could stretch! They focused so much on their flaws! But look at what the Lord says to each of them :)
Moses 6:32 (Enoch) :
32 And the Lord said unto Enoch: Go forth and do as I have commanded thee, and no man shall pierce thee. Open thy mouth, and it shall be filled, and I will give thee utterance, for all flesh is in my hands, and I will do as seemeth me good.
Exodus 4:12 (Moses) :
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
Jeremiah 1:7:
7 ¶ But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
How cool is that? God told them all that he would be by their side to help them out the entire time! God isn't going to put us in the dark and say, "good luck!" He will guide us through dark, helping us along the way. ALLOWING US TO STRETCH. When we reach the end, we can look back and see just how far we've gone. Much farther than without the Lord.
All in all, we must include the Lord in all our goal-setting. He will help us know how to do hard things and accomplish the more "stretchy" goals.
Sorry for the long one but it was SWEET.
And yes mom. I got the package. Thank you 😍😍📦😘😘❤️👌👍👏
