Week # 85 - Flight of the Pigeons (feat. how to get turnt in a sewer)
Hello
you fabulous people! I hope your week has been super swell. We have had some
good times this week. So let's get to it!
I
went on exchanges with Elder Nash, our District Leader, this week and that was
a ton of fun! I went to Moss Bluff with him and we went around teaching people
as we walked. We went to a Christian get-together thing, near the end of the
day, and basically had a "eat chili and bible study" for an hour. It
was radical. We also had dinner with two of the people that Elder Nash and Elder
Houser are teaching and we had a lesson with them after the meal and let me
tell you, God prepares the elect to find His gospel. It's so cool to see how
some people will just grab on once they find truth.
Elder
Rasmussen and I found some people to teach this week and one of them was a very
cool story! We were looking at our “areabook”, using the smart sort, which
helps us know what people have been taught.
It is easier to find more prepared people that way. I saw a lady who had been taught like 68% of
the principles we teach, had been to church like 13 times, and even had a
previous baptismal date. I looked at the reason she was put on hold from
teaching and it said, "this person has not been taught for 6 months, so
areabook automatically put her on not interested" So I was like,
"let's go" and we did. We pulled up to the street and I couldn’t find
her house, cuz google maps didn't lead me to the right house. We knock around
and as we are about to leave, I see it. HER HOUSE. I run over to it and I knock
on the door. She answered the door and looked happy to see us and said she was
busy, but that she wanted us back. We taught her a little bit and now we're
gonna keep teaching and get her into the fold of the lamb. ;) The Lord guided
us to her and I'm glad we were worthy of the spirit to listen to the promptings
we got.
So
with the pigeons... we were at the lake having a companionship study when all
of a sudden a HUGE flock of pigeons started flying around us and started doing
like patterns in the sky. It was cool and relaxing. Those graceful
creatures.

THIS is how you get TURNT in a sewer.
aka grow some weed where most cops won't look
Time
to get spiritual now y'all. So I read through 4 Nephi this past week looking
for some good messages and I found a couple. The BIG one is the Pride is the
root of all wickedness, so if any of y'all are getting carried away in pride,
check yo self and read Beware of Pride.
But
another thing I found was how we can be rebuilt through repentance.
7 And the
Lord did prosper them exceedingly in the land; yea, insomuch that they did
build cities again where there had been cities burned.
8 Yea,
even that great acity Zarahemla did
they cause to be built again.
9 But
there were many cities which had been asunk, and
waters came up in the stead thereof; therefore these cities could not be
renewed.
So,
when you read these verses in 4 Nephi, you might think, "yeah, they
rebuilt the cities. So what?" But liken yourself to those cities. We live our
lives how we live them and if we choose to follow God; we are blessed for doing
so. But sometimes we sin and let bad qualities into our lives. Eventually we
need to repent (sooner than later) and when we get to this point we will notice
that some of our good qualities have been "burned down." But if we
choose to really repent we can rebuild what was destroyed and bring the good
back. But it requires effort. As for the bad qualities, we need to leave those
buried in the deep so that we may never restore them.
That's
my little thought.
But
I have been really enjoying Lake Charles and being able to serve the Lord out
here! Elder Rasmussen is getting certified this week on Wednesday! So keep him
in your prayers!!! He's gonna do great :)
I
love y'all,
Elder
Furphy
