Week #60 - """"""""""""SOW"""""""""""""" whatchya whatchya want?
Hello one and all! It is I, ELDER FURPHY! I am having a lot of fun and the work is going great. We had a busy week, but, also a spiritual week! So here we go...
I was able to go on exchanges, this week, with Elder Westover and HE IS A STUD! We worked in the Atascocita area and that place is pretty cool! We mainly worked on trying by "formers" (former investigators?) and tracting if the people weren't home. We were able to find a new person to teach named Christina and she is super nice! But after the exchange, I got to go back with Elder Farley and we had a grand ol' rest of the night 😀. Elder Farley is super cool still and I am enjoying our transfer a TON.
We had Zone Conference this week too and it was SUCH a spiritual experience! It has got to be my favorite Zone Conference, by far. We were able to learn more about how we can put people on date for baptism and get them to sacrament.
Elder Farley, Sister Ahlmer, Sister Howcroft, and I all gave the segment about putting a person on date for baptism and it went very well! We mainly addressed the fact that we need to resolve concerns if people are unsure about accepting a date. It was a great learning experience, for me, because we had to stand upfront and teach 2 zones about it and I don't like doing that kind of stuff, but it actually went REALLY well. I know I was given the strength to do that because of the Lord.
Then at the end, President Hewlett had us hold a T-pose for 6 minutes, while he talked about the atonement of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice he made for us. It hurt super bad and it really increased my testimony of just how much my Savior did for me. I couldn't hold back my testimony, at the end, when they invited us to bear our testimonies. It was so great 😃
Our zone shirts came in which was super sweet! They are super cool looking and are super comfy, soooooooooooooooooo, good deal.
Speaking of S.O.W. 😉 At MLT (Mission Leadership Training?) this was talked about, BUT it was put in place at Zone Conference. It is a way that we can all be more obedient in the mission and the promised blessing is 100 baptisms in 100 days!
S - START
We have to have a great start to our days or else we miss out on blessings, so this includes waking up at 6:30am and staying awake and then working out, then having a good personal and companion study.
O - OBEDIENCE
Pretty self explanatory, but for all you normies, it means we gotta be 100% obedient to the Missionary Handbook.
W - WORK
Work effectively from 10am - 9pm
We are going to be working on one each week then on week 4, we will do all 3. Missionaries that are doing it have already seen the blessings that come from doing it and it is SUPER sweet.
I was able to go on another exchange with Elder Carraway this week too. He is from Louisiana and he is super funny. We mainly did some service with the rest of the zone which included moving stuff out of a house, so that the K3 sisters could move in. But we were also able to teach Mark, which included a super sweet Plan of Salvation lesson. We then went to a less active members house, which we ended up in teaching a friend of the member and her name is Peaches. It was a win.
We had a part-member come to church this Sunday. The dad is a member and he has like, 2 unbaptized kids. He wants to baptize them. So he wants to repent and come back to the fold. IT WAS A MIRACLE!!!!! We also went on a ton of rescue visits that day too. So it was a big win for us elders.
17 And I am filled with charity, which is everlasting love; wherefore, all children are alike unto me; wherefore, I love little children with a perfect love; and they are all alike and partakers of salvation. (Moroni 8:17)
I love this verse of scripture because it's so true!!! I know that if we are able to humble ourselves and come unto Christ and be filled with the charity that comes from living the gospel, we can be "partakers of salvation"!!!!! Man, I know I want that, and I hope y'all want that too. I hope the Celestial Kingdom is y'alls goal 😎.
I love y'all and I hope you have a great week 😃
Love,
Elder Furphy
