Week #86.6 - Corona Days: transfer news
Howdy
Familia!
So today was pretty
okay. I made a goal to read a lot of scriptures during these next couple weeks.
Turns out, I'm super bad at reading a lot. So I'm gonna work on it. I want to
read all of Jesus the Christ. I am also trying to read all of the Pearl of
Great Price, Doctrine and Covenants, and the New Testament. I might venture into the Old Testament if I
feel edgy 😜💯.
Today, we didn't
really have a whole lot of success. The governor of Louisiana said that we are
gonna go on a shutdown tomorrow. But
really that means, if you have to go outside, avoid all humans possible. 6 FEET
AWAY!
We got to take the Sacrament
today!!!! Bishop had us over and Elder Rasmussen and I were able to bless it.
It feels good to renew Covenants.
So Transfers! I will
be staying in Lake Charles to finish my mission. Elder Rasmussen, however, is
leaving and going up the street to Moss Bluff! I will be with Elder Nash this
next transfer. He's a homie and I'm PUMPED. I'm super excited to start the
beginning of my end! There will be miracles and people will be changed through
Christ. I love being a missionary so much.
Spiritual thought:
So I have been going
through Ether recently and I read chapters 2 and 3 today.
At the end of chapter
2, The Brother of Jared (TBOJ) Is talking with Lord trying to figure out how to
get light in their boats. The Lord basically says, "well, I don't know
what to do. These things won't work. So what are you gonna do?"
Now. A lot of people
might see this as the Lord giving up on TBOJ but I see it another way. The Lord
has confidence that TBOJ will go do something to try and fix the problem.
Confidence from the Lord is a compliment.
So, TBOJ goes and
makes 16 glass stones and takes them to the Lord. (notice how TBOJ is still
including the lord in all he does.) and in these verses in ch. 3 he says:
4 And I know, O Lord,
that thou hast all power, and can do whatsoever thou wilt for the benefit of
man; therefore touch these stones, O Lord, with thy finger, and prepare them
that they may shine forth in darkness; and they shall shine forth unto us in
the vessels which we have prepared, that we may have light while we shall cross
the sea.
5 Behold, O Lord, thou
canst do this. We know that thou art able to show forth great power, which
looks small unto the understanding of men.
TBOJ was only able to
accomplish his idea as he included the Lord in his plan. We can all apply this.
If we feel stuck or unsure about what to do. Don't just sit around. Go to the
Lord and ask him what you should do! If you still feel stuck, continue on and
keep praying because the Lord does want to be included in all you do. He WILL
help you.
I also want to say
good luck to all the missionaries being sent home due to the Coronavirus. Big shout
out to Elder Harward! He is so awesome. I am sad to see him go, but I know he
will be a powerful force back home in the Utah.
I love y'all!
Elder Furphy😘😘💯
