Week #86.5 - Corona Days 03-21-2020

Hey y'all! So, we have been officially quarantined for 2 days now. So, we have been asked to send our families daily updates of what we have been learning/experiencing during this time of being shut in.

We are only allowed to leave our apartments to get fresh air for about 20 to 30 minutes,  or if we need to shop on p-day. So it's not a full lock down yet.

It had been an interesting day. We started out with a mission wide zoom call, in which President Hewlett let us know how we are going to progress through the next transfer or 2. Basically, we are to proselyte from our apartments now.

So... That's been fun. We have been going through all of the people in areabook and texting them asking if they would like to hear a message of hope and joy that would help them during this time of uncertainty. We literally got no response ALL day. But, finally around 6pm, we got a response from a guy. He said he wasn't the guy we were looking for. But we asked if he was interested in learning and he. Said. YES. BOOM BAYBEEEEEEEE!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
THEN FLASHBACK TO OAKHURST. Elder Rasmussen messaged MATTHEW JACKSON. AND HE RESPONDED. I had been trying to get in touch with him ever since I left Oakhurst and have had no luck! But he responded saying he still wanted to be baptized!!! He is in Arkansas, but we are planning on doing video lessons with him now. So that's DOPE. Other than that, we threw a football around and a member brought us a dinner. I love the members here.

Here's something cool I studied!

It is in Ether 2

13 And now I proceed with my record; for behold, it came to pass that the Lord did bring Jared and his brethren forth even to that great sea which divideth the lands. And as they came to the sea they pitched their tents; and they called the name of the place Moriancumer; and they dwelt in tents, and dwelt in tents upon the seashore for the space of four years.
14 And it came to pass at the end of four years that the Lord came again unto the brother of Jared, and stood in a cloud and talked with him. And for the space of three hours did the Lord talk with the brother of Jared, and chastened him because he remembered not to call upon the name of the Lord.
15 And the brother of Jared repented of the evil which he had done, and did call upon the name of the Lord for his brethren who were with him. And the Lord said unto him: I will forgive thee and thy brethren of their sins; but thou shalt not sin any more, for ye shall remember that my Spirit will not always strive with man; wherefore, if ye will sin until ye are fully ripe ye shall be cut off from the presence of the Lord. And these are my thoughts upon the land which I shall give you for your inheritance; for it shall be a land choice above all other lands.

What I thought was cool in this is that the brother of Jared and his group had been led by Jesus through the wilderness and had had amazing experiences with the Lord. But, when they got to the middle part of their journey, they waited FOUR YEARS. WOWEE! Christ gave them that time to act. He had confidence that they would do something to progress. But they didn't. So He came and chastised the brother of Jared. After that, he repented and was able to understand that the Lord had so much more in store for him and his group. How many times are we caught in this waiting period? I catch myself there all the time! Just waiting for someone to tell me what to do, when I very well know what to do. And it's super embarrassing when someone has to tell me after so much time has passed and I get chastised by the spirit. So choose NOW to act cuz the Lord has so MUCH for you!

Also, in the last verse, when it talks about being "ripe". Everyone will ripen at some point in their life. But you will either ripen into a good or bad fruit. So you gotta do the things that will help enrich your soil so that you become a good fruit.

I love you all! This will be a nightly thing. So get ready to be spiritual for the next 6 weeks! (For those of you that don't know, I come home on May 6th now cuz of Corona)

See ya tomorrow Doods,

Elder Furphy 😘😘😍👌🤣😀
