Week #76 - The Power of the Holy Ghost

Credits to Elder Butterfield πŸ˜Ž

Hello one and all!!!! Oh boy, oh boy, it's been a good week! We have been working hard and getting things done! Elder Harward is a STUD. Pasadena is different than any of the areas I've ever served in, but it's SWEET. There's always something new to see every day - whether it be a man just chilling in the middle of the road or seeing a car going in reverse against traffic. It's legit πŸ˜‚.

We usually walk around and try to street contact people.  It works pretty well! People are super willing to talk here and I think I was a little nervous that it would be the opposite here.  So that's a good deal. I've also been trying to try new things when contacting people.  So I decided to follow the spirit a little more and I asked a guy, "can I share something that is super important to me?"  He said yes and he was interested. I think it's cool how the spirit can give you little promptings of what to say and do and it just works out in the end. I had never said that in a contact before.   So it was new for me, but it was sweet to see how it worked so well. The spirit is cool y'all.

We were able to go to the temple with Mark! He's so cool. He has changed so much and he was super happy to be at the temple. He said he could feel the spirit so much!

We had a cool lesson yesterday with a woman who thought we didn't read from the Bible. But then her daughter said we did and talked about how the kingdoms of glory are found in the Bible, in 1 Corinthians 15.  The mom was like, "what are the kingdoms of glory???" and so we taught her about them.  Then we talked about the resurrection and how it was talked about in the Book of Mormon in Alma 40.  Then, we talked about the spirit world.   She said she's had a dream about the spirit world, but she never told anyone about it cuz she had never been taught about that in her church. We then taught how we have all of this doctrine and how it came about through the restoration.   We told her how Joseph Smith is a prophet and the church was restored through him. At the end of the lesson, she said that everything we said was true. She committed to read the Book of Mormon.   She said she was gonna tell her whole church about what she's learned and about how the Book of Mormon is so cool. She's super cool.

Something cool I learned from the temple President:
He talked about how the work for the dead is referenced in the Old Testament.

11 As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.
- Zechariah 9:11

He talked about the spirit world, how people in spirit prison are stuck. They cannot progress because they don't have a body to make Covenants like baptism. It's even referenced in this verse when it says "the pit wherein is no water". So that's where baptisms for the dead come in because the work we help with helps them get out of that pit. So make sure you are able to go to the temple to help your ancestors! They are just waiting and itching to get outta that prison.

BUT yep, I love y'all and I hope y'all are doing great!
