Week #75 - Hasta la Pasta 🍝🍝🍝

So literally we didn't have any pasta this week, but it's a fun phrase guys, c'mon.

Elder Hodson was sick and needed water, so we came to the rescue
(Elder Ferrell, Elder Butterfield, Elder Hodson, me)

Hello all! I hope y'all are having a great last day of the year!!! 2019 is ending and 2020 is here bayBEEEEEE!!!!!! I'm so pumped (the Olympics are this year y'all, who wouldn't be pumped). But, Elder Butterfield and I did a good job this week. We were able to find 4 sweet people to teach and they all want to learn more about the gospel, so that'll be sweet!

New transfer Board

Nothing super huge happened this week, since Christmas.  But, we got transfer news and I am being transferred. I am going to Pasadena, in the Houston East Zone.   My new comp is Elder Harward. He's a pretty cool dude, from what I hear, so I'm pumped. I have loved being in Oakhurst and helping 3 people enter the waters of baptism. Mark, Sarah and Monique are all doing well and I am gonna see them all again, at a later time. I love the people here in the ward and am sad to say bye.  But I know they're in good hands with Elder Butterfield and Elder Call. So gg.

Our Christmas Breakfast

I gave a talk, in church this Sunday.  It was all about how goal setting pertains to the gospel. I focused it on how we need to counsel with the Lord as we set our goals for the New Year and to also create plans of how we will reach our goals. I used 1 Nephi 17 as an example for goal setting:

8 And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto me, saying: Thou shalt construct a ship, after the manner which I shall show thee, that I may carry thy people across these waters.

Nephi's goal: Build a ship.

Nephi's plan:

9 And I said: Lord, whither shall I go that I may find ore to molten, that I may make tools to construct the ship after the manner which thou hast shown unto me?
10 And it came to pass that the Lord told me whither I should go to find ore, that I might make tools.
11 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did make a bellows wherewith to blow the fire, of the skins of beasts; and after I had made a bellows, that I might have wherewith to blow the fire, I did smite two stones together that I might make fire.

So he needed to find ore to make tools. He needed to make a bellows to melt the ore. But he had to hunt animals to get skins to make a bellows. So it goes like this:

Find ore➡️hunt animals➡️get skins➡️make bellows➡️melt ore➡️make tools➡️build ship.

So he had other steps to take before he could reach his final goal. Sometimes our goals look super huge and unreachable, but if we plan them out, and ask the Lord for help, we can have the smaller steps to take and eventually we can achieve our goal! So go for it! Don't give up on your new year resolutions!!! You got this!!!!

Elder Butterfield got a fever, so I put 4 blankets on him and
cocooned him and his fever broke in a couple hours

I love y'all have a good new year my dudes,

Elder Furphy 😎😎😎
