Week #66 - "Hi, how are you?", "*speaks Romanian*", "oh, very nice"
Hello, one and all, to this week's episode of Elder Furphy's life. (aka a pretty cool show and it has some fun stories along the wayπ) Anywho, this week was pretty sweet! I was able to go on a couple exchanges, be Waldo a little bit π, and I was able to talk with some Romanians. What else could an Elder ask for? So let's get to it π€
So, I was able to go on an exchange, with Elder Carraway, this week and that was super fun! We had a good ol' time walking around, and street contacting some people. We were able to share the Family Proclamation with some people. Then, we had a lesson at the church in the afternoon with Matthew, one of our progressing people, buuuuuuut they slept in and we rescheduled the lesson for the next day.
Then, we got a curve-ball to our plans, cuz one of the Elders in the zone was still at the doctors with another Elder and they both happened to be trainers. So both of their new missionaries were left alone together to try and proselyte. So we got a call from our Assistant to the President and he needed us to take the two Elders around with us. So we did. We went to a neighborhood and I went around with Elder Hodson and Elder Carraway went around with Elder Wight. Elder Hodson and I met a very nice lady and she said we could come "discuss" more next week. So that's a questionable return appointment. But, whatever. After that we dropped the two missionaries off, at their dinner, and we went to ours. Then Elder Carraway and I went to a piano recital for one of the people we are teaching, Mark, and he did so good!!! Also, Sister Lancaster was SUPER good too! These people were straight jamming outπππ.
I also went on an exchange with Elder Ferrell and he is super funny. Quick story, Elder Ferrell hurt himself playing basketball and he now has to wear a cast and use crutches to get around. It is a huge change for his work style. BACK TO THE MAIN PLOT. So, we went around contacting former people being taught and were literally only able to contact the wife and brother of one of them. BUT, we were able to share the Family Proclamation with them. We asked if we could come back and share more and the brother says, "sorry I have to go to Pakistan tomorrow" and I was like, "wow that's wild bro" but after that we went and had lunch. We then had to zoom to the church and teach Mark a SWEET lesson about the gospel of Jesus Christ. He had a question about baptism and so we answered it and he is now even more excited to get baptized and is set on making this covenant with the Lordππ.
After that, we had our "Trunk or Treat" with the ward and the Spanish Branch. That was so much fun and Mark came to it!!!! I wore my classic Waldo outfit. Elder Farley wore his Incredibles jumpsuit. Elder Ferrell was an injured basketball player. Elder Hodson was a basketball player. Elder Garcia was Spiderman. And Elder Duran was a blow up T-Rex. It was a super fun time and we even got to ride a little train around. It was so cool.
Now, for Sunday. πππ
Church was great and the Sacrament was sweet. But, after the first hour of church, we were heading to Sunday school when a member stopped us and said she had someone we had to meet. She pulls us over to a couple that I've never met before and we are introduced to them. Apparently the member was late to church and found them in the parking lot and invited them inside. I don't know how cuz they both literally spoke only Romanian. The wife can speak enough English to ask where the bathroom is and the husband is gonna struggle asking for the bathroom.
Anywho, Elder Farley and I had them watch the Primary practice for their Primary Program cuz like the spirit was there, plus it's the children singing about the gospel. That's a good combo my dudes. So we taught the couple the best we could over Google translate, which was fun. Then, we told them we would get in contact with some Romanian Missionaries and they could teach them better next week. They both said they will be at the Church, next week, for a lesson so that's cool. Then, later we got in contact with the Salt Lake sisters and they were able to give us the contact info for missionaries in Romania! I sent them an email last night, about the whole situation, and they emailed me back at like 3:45am. It's a 7 hour difference from there and here. But, they are able to help us so that's AWESOME. What's funny is that I had been praying that we'd be able to find some sweet people to teach and the Lord blessed us with two Romanians ππ. But we will take what we can get.
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT!
21 And when he had said these words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them. (3 Nephi 17:21)
How cool is this verse! This takes place in the Book of Mormon when Jesus Christ is visiting the people of the Americas right after he is resurrected. But he has the children gather around Him and he blesses each of them. I like how it says one by one because really that's how the Savior helps each of us. One by one. The Savior will work with you if you let Him. He loves you and is there for you. Rely on him and you will feel so much more joy in your life ❤️π.
Anywho, that's about it for furf-dawg this week. Next week is gonna be pretty cool too, so stay tuned!!!!
Love y'all,
