Week #47 - You have two weeks ***CLICKBAIT*** ***SUPER TRUE STORY***
Allllriiiightyyyyy everyone!
This week was pretty sweet. We found a handful of people to teach and the work is progressing. Elder Boam and I are doing everything, in our power, to help the people of Woodville receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We wrassled some hogs and laid down the law this week with one of our investigators (that's the two week story).
So, to begin, we have a member who is trying to get rid of all of his animals, so we went to his house, on Tuesday, and helped him move 2 hogs. Boi, those hogs can SQUEAL. We roped one of them and the moment we started pulling on it, it started to SQUEAL SUPER LOUD. I was like, clam down bro. With the help of EJ, we grabbed the hog, by the hind legs and it's ears, and picked it up and put it in a trailer. The next hog was kinda wild, cuz it tried to bite our hands, when we got close. So, that was nuts. So, we basically funneled the hog into the trailer and it went really smoothly. So, that was nice.
Later in the week, we did a lot of biking and we spent a lot of time in Ivanhoe biking around. We found 3 new people to teach, in one day, in Ivanhoe. All 3 had a family member that had recently passed away. So we were able to share the Plan of Salvation with them and they really liked it. So that was a big win.
Then, on Saturday, we went to teach one of our people and our plan was to have a 15 minute lesson. Which we did. But, our past lessons have been very contentious, so we weren't too keen on staying around for too long. So, we asked him if he had a true desire to know if the Book of Mormon is true and he said, "I don't know" and so I bore my testimony about the Book of Mormon to him and then challenged him to truthfully read, study, ponder, and pray about the Book of Mormon. He asked us which was the most important Book in it was to read. We told him to read 3 Nephi and that we would follow up with him, in two weeks. He agreed to it. We said a prayer and got out of there. 40 minutes later, he starts sending us a bunch of questions. So basically, once we left, he dove head first going lightning speed into some anti-mormon stuff and was just throwing questions at us, from the websites. Then, he said we have two weeks to answer the questions. We were able to find the answers within 10 minutes. Super funny. It literally built my testimony that all the anti literature of the church can do is just dance around the book of Mormon, but can't go through it. My testimony of the Book of Mormon is only increasing as we help answer these questions and resolve his concerns. So, the game plan is that we will come back in two weeks, and ask him if he truly read 3 Nephi. If he did, sweet and we will continue to teach him and use the Book of Mormon to help resolve his concerns. If not, we are gonna bear our testimonies to him and drop him. It all hinges on whether or not he gains a testimony.
Anywho, I am having a ball out here. Being a missionary is sweet. I got to talk to my papa Furf yesterday which was super sweet. He's doing AWESOME. (Shoutout to Elders Wood and Osborne for training me)
I know this gospel is true and that we can understand it fully, as we read the Book of Mormon.
So I was reading in 3 Nephi this week and in chapter 4, the Nephites totally wreck the Gadianton Robbers and are saved by the aid of God because of their faithfulness.
30 And they did rejoice and cry again with one voice, saying: May the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, protect this people in righteousness, so long as they shall call on the name of their God for protection.
31 And it came to pass that they did break forth, all as one, in singing, and praising their God for the great thing which he had done for them, in preserving them from falling into the hands of their enemies.
32 Yea, they did cry: Hosanna to the Most High God. And they did cry: Blessed be the name of the Lord God Almighty, the Most High God.
33 And their hearts were swollen with joy, unto the gushing out of many tears, because of the great goodness of God in delivering them out of the hands of their enemies; and they knew it was because of their repentance and their humility that they had been delivered from an everlasting destruction.
I love the gratitude that they are showing towards God. They knew exactly why they had been saved too. It's cuz they were willing to repent and be humble. I love knowing how I can be a better follower of Jesus Christ. It's a true blessing.
Y'all have a great week and stay AWESOME!
