Week #18 - Ooooo it's a BIG turkey. Oh and what a fire week. πππ
Wazaaaaaaaaaaa!?!?!?
First off, Elder Morris, I believe in you and know you'll do great things.
Second, Elder Ure, you have a wonderful smile.
Third, Elder Ewell, I miss having luaus with you.
AND NOW, ooo wee what a week.
So, we had a short p-day last week. So we went and got a pizza that a member bought us. It was real good. But then, at the end of that day, the Zone Leaders came over and said they were gonna blitz our area with us. I was very happy about that.
Then, after that, we went to Chuck's for lunch and we all got redneck nachos. It's basically a BUNCH of potato chips covered in pork and BBQ sauce and some other ranch stuff and jalapeΓ±os. That was pretty good haha.
After lunch, we had a fire companion study and then went back out. Elder Davies asked me how I was doing and we had a good talk, cuz at that moment I was still struggling. So we just talked about how God doesn't give us a trial that we can't handle and so I felt better after that. Elder Davies is a great dude. But yeah, then we went around and found more cool peeps.
Oh, I may or may not have been loaned a trumpet to play at the ward party, on the 15th. I am a happy dude now. It felt good to play againππ.
Anywhooooooo, on another day, we went way up to Call and talked with some less actives and tried to figure out why they don't want to come to church. We would just emphasize the Sacrament and they usually didn't have a good response to that, haha, but it's whateva. We met a lady, who I had to pinky promise with, that we would come back, haha, that was great.
Then, we had planned to go to an area that I thought was Evadale. BUUUUT, when we got to the actual area that WAS Evadale, I realized that we weren't in the right place. But, we decided to go work in this area. I saw that there was an interested person nearby, so we went to go visit her. Her name is Wanda and she felt like God had abandoned her. So, we had a great lesson on how God would never abandon his children and that he loves her. She really appreciated it and at the end, I felt prompted to tell her we loved her and so I did and she just got a big smile and started crying more. It was a great experience. We had plans to go back.
Later that night, we went to a Baptist church, for a Bible study, and the pastor was totally not expecting us to be there haha. It was really cool. We studies Psalms 104 and they kept talking about how poetic it was. It IS poetic but I was hoping they would talk some doctrine, and they eventually did after a bit. They're focused on a verse that talked about how people feel like God hides himself from people and I immediately thought of Wanda. So I felt prompted to share that experience with the group and got some "amens" from some people. Then talked about how we should all, as Christians, share with people our beliefs in Christ and that He would never abandon us. The pastor really liked that I said thatππ. Then, I related this to Job and how he had literally everything taken from him, but he stayed strong with his faith and I said that God would never give us something we couldn't handle. I got more amens for that haha. But yeah the pastor liked that too.
After the study, we said a group prayer and it was great. After that, we talked with the pastor and said he was really happy I participated and that I didn't said anything contrary to his beliefs. He was like, "thank you for the respect you showed" and I was like, "no problemo" then after scoring those brownie points, we went home.
THEN THANKSGIVING HAPPENED. We started the morning by tracting haha. Best idea ever. We came across a group of dudes skinning a deer and it was very cool. Lots of blood and we came right as they ripped a thigh off. It was AWESOME. They referred us to a lady who we could talk to. So we went by and she was very nice to us. She said we could come backπππ.
Then, we went to the Hillins, for Thanksgiving, and had a great time. I ate a lot of food and will probably be really fat, after this transfer haha. Whoops. They are such a nice family and they reminded me a ton of the Furphy Thanksgiving meal haha. Lots of talkingππ and games too. The whole day was great. Lots of turkey was eaten. They had some pretty good sweet potato casserole too. But yeah, overall a pretty good day.
On Friday, we had interviews with President and let me tell ya, I feel like I can tell that man anything. I just love talking with him. We had a great talk and he gave me the encouragement and council I needed to be more determined to do the Lord's work. It was really nice. Then, we had a role play with the ZLs and they videoed it. and we at he'd with the APs. It was a great learning experience. After that, we went by Wanda and she had just woken up and said to come back the next day.
So we came back the next day. Her husband was there. He asked who we were. We told him. He said if we ever came back he'd shoot us. I almost said something like, "Boi sure you will." but I decided otherwise. But, all I know is that in that moment, I did not fear whatever he was trying to threaten me with cuz I knew the Lord would protect me. I got a little mad cuz he wouldn't shake my hand and was showing some mad disrespect. But, yeah, that was a bummer. But yeah that was the main highlight of the day.
Sunday was great and I took the sacrament. Like one does.
Oh and today, we found a snake in the Silsbee Church. It was a small king snake, so we took it outside and released it into the wild. We'll that's what I'd like to say, but really a member swept it outside and proceeded to beat it to death with a broom☠️☠️☠️.
But yeah, this week was wild and great.
So I read this in the newsroom:
"Vending machines will be available for the public to donate predesignated items such as water filters or eyeglasses or other needed items to people in need. One hundred percent of all donations go directly to partner charities for the purchased item or for items or services of greater need based on their discretion. One machine will be at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building on Temple Square, which was popular with visitors last year. New locations for the machines this year are Manila, Philippines; New York City; Gilbert, Arizona; and London, England. Media events are scheduled in these locations to formally launch the initiative".
The "Light The World" program starts on Saturday! Go do some service and brighten peoples day!!!! Oh and all y'all in Gilbert, go use that vending machine of service. I promise you will see it bless your lives!!!!
Anywho. Kinda long today, but it's a good longππ.
Y'all Stay beeeeeeeeautiful.
With love,

And so the next morning, we went out and ran around a track. Then we had a really great breakfast of scrambled eggs and deer sausage. Sooooo goooood π³π¦πππππ. But yeah, I went around with Elder Davies and we met some really cool people and a member gave us Tamales. Then, on our way back from lunch, we ran into 2 people smoking and sat down and had a really great lesson with them. At first, they seemed like they didn't want to talk. But as we kept teaching and the spirit came in and started to confirm the truths, they started to listen more and ask questions and stuff. Then, we gave both of them a Book of Mormon and they said they would start reading itπππ. We have plans to see them again this week. So yeah, way cool.
