Week #28 - Machete Logging Co.
Well, well, well. You thought I had forgotten about you? Well, you'd be right! Jkjk jkjk, we had a zone conference yesterday, so our p-day got moved to today.
SO. Our week, this past week, was pretty cool. Lots of service and lots of lessons.
To begin, we had two lessons with David this last week! We first had a lesson about the Plan of Salvation with him, at a members house, and he really likes it. He feels good about it all. We then later, in the week, had a restoration lesson with the Bishop. He really likes the idea of modern day prophets and how there are more scripture today. So, now what we've been working on, with him, is to really gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon for himself. I can see how the gospel is changing him and he can see it too. He has been so much happier over the past couple of days and it's so great to see the Holy Ghost at work.
We had another lesson with a dude named William this week, and it was also with the Bishop. We had a Plan of Salvation lesson and we brought a white board to map it all out. Cuz it is really hard to explain without a visual. William really likes it as well and he said he is gonna read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. He really liked how we were able to plainly explain the Plan and be able to answer his questions. William is so cool!
So for service this past week, we helped our Elder's Quorum President move some boxes out of his storage shed and then reorganize it and then move it all back in. That was fun.
Then, the best service we did this week was on Saturday when we went and helped the Ward Mission Leader clear some trees from his property. He gave me a Machete and I went to work on those trees. I cut down about 6 trees with the Machete and I loved every moment of it. It felt like I was in the Amazon goin' through the jungle, lol.
Oh, so I was able to do my first District council this past Friday! I prepared for it and it went smoothly! We focused on praying in Faith to recognize promptings from the spirit. But, we also talked about how we should confirm if the promptings we get are good promptings. I came up with an acronym for the District to follow:
P - Pray
R - Receive
C - Confirm
A - Act
If you follow these four steps, you will be able to find that the spirit is willing to give you revelation more than you think. But you gotta act on all that you receive!!! I have found blessings in my own life from following PRCA and it's fantastic.
Oh and finally, we had ZONE conference yesterday! Elder Kopischke came and talked to us about using Preach My Gospel to answer all of our questions revolving around missionary work. President Hewlett talked about Integrity and Sister Hewlett talked about Diligence. All of these topics can be put together as we go and do missionary work cuz we will have hard weeks but as long as we are giving all we have, the Lord will bless us.
But yeah that's about it for this Texas boy.
Y'all have a great week and go share the gospel with some peeps!
