Week #11 - "Free flu shot? Sure why not"/Change is super cool y'all 👌👌
Hello you wonderful people,
This week was pretty cool. A lot happened and I am super tired. But, it's a good tired. So let's dive in to the week, shall we?
TUESDAY: Elder Osborne and I had to wake up early and drive out to the edge of our area to have a lesson at 9:30am with the sisters that used to be in the Lakeshore area. They had recently found a new investigator named Kim, and wanted to introduce us to her. She is a super awesome lady who is just dying to learn more about the gospel. She said I had a very nice smile, so that was cool 😊. The sisters invited her to be baptized and she said YES. Buuuuut, they didn't set a date, so it's a big LOL. Then, for the rest of the day, we knocked streets. We found this spooky clown and it took a lot of courage to walk close to it. Haha😂
WEDNESDAY: Nothing too big happened on Wednesday. We just knocked more streets and helped Curtis figure out his which ward he was in and what chapel he would be going to now.
THURSDAY: Sooooo we were at HAAM making CNPs and a lady came around the corner and said they were giving free flu shots, at noon, in the lobby. So Sister Atencio and I looked at each other and were like, "let's do it". So we got a flu shot. Now nothing can make me sick. That's how it works, right? After HAAM, we had interviews with the Mission President and we had a good time there at the mission office.
FRIDAY: We had district training. It was a good council of missionaries. Turns out my district is me, Elder Osborne, Elder Setoki, and Elder Kennach. So, we are small, but strong! Then, we went and taught Victoria some part of lesson 4 for her new member lessons. I drove the car, so that was awesome. I forgot how much I love driving. But yeah, teaching the new convert lessons are such a cool experience.
SATURDAY: So, can I just say that I am super grateful for General Conference. It is super cool and I am glad we got to watch it. I learned a lot. My 2 favorite talks on Saturday were by M. Joseph Brough and Gerrit W. Gong.
MJB had a great quote:
"Could I forgive the man"
That was real good.
Elder Gong gave a great quote as well:
"our Savior knows our circumstance"
That reminded me that we are never alone.
Also, another cool thing that happened was that the time we go to church changed from 3 hours to 2 hours. I think a lot of people might use this to be lazy on Sunday. I know I would have when I was at home. But, we have been instructed that we should use this time to learn and grow in the gospel as a family. It will give parents a better opportunity to teach their children and I know this will bless lives if you take advantage of it.
SUNDAY: General Conference Part 2! BUT, first things first. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ERICA!!
Now, back to Conference. I really liked Jeffrey R. Holland's talk on forgiving others and not holding grudges. He had a great quote: "Now is the day to sacrifice your pride and settle." I really liked that quote, cuz we all know how hard it can be to forgive someone that hurt us. But I promise that if you let go of that grudge you will feel relieved.
Another talk along those lines was by Robert C. Gay. My favorite quote from him was, "Understand men and women as they are, not as YOU are." That quote teaches us to step into the shoes of others before we judge them. SO DO IT.
Also, when each new temple was being announced, I felt the spirit really strong, as each name was listed off. It was really cool and I came to know for a fact that these temples really ARE houses of the Lord. I know that for a fact now. I felt at peace as those temples were announced.
We watched the last half of conference at President Rascone's house and he had a mini movie theater for the missionaries to watch conference in. So that was really comfy.
But yeah, I know that I am out here for a reason, and that is to bring others to Christ. I can't wait for what is to come in the future days!!! The Lord will bless you if you look to Him for guidance. SO DO IT.
I have also been reading in Mosiah, a lot, and there are some cool gospel principles to be found in that book. I encourage you to read at least the first 6 chapters of it.
CHALLENGE: I know some of you aren't a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but, I challenge each of you to share your testimony of Jesus Christ with others. It doesn't matter who you share with, but, I promise that if you do, you will be blessing their lives and will also be increasing your faith in Christ!
Y'all stay awesome,
