Week #5 - Water is gold my dude!

What is up my fellow sons and daughters of God?

So, yes, I have officially been out a month 🤠🤠 and life is goin pretty good! This week was sweet and salty haha.

Sooo to begin, on last pday, we had a great end to that day cuz Elder Wood and I went to the park around 8pm and talked to a group of three 18-19 year olds. And it was interesting to see what their life was like right now because of their religious background. One of them didn't believe in God at all and believed that when we die that's it. He also happened to be doing drugs. The second didn't believe in God, but believed that there was heaven and hell. He seemed like he was just cruisin through life. The last one was a Christian and it seemed like she had her life in order. So yeah it was interesting to say the least.

On Tuesday, it was a slow day cuz Elder Wood's bike was janky, so we had to fix it.  Buuuuut, we eventually got to ride around.  So, we went walking around with Curtis and then read the Book of Mormon with him.  But right before we started to head home, we heard a big BOOM and then rain started poooooooouring. 💧💧💧💧   There was a ton of rain and lightning and I loved every second of it 😊😄😁We got soaked, but it was worth it!

On Wednesday, we went to HAAM to do some service, but real slowy, cuz Elder Wood's axle broke and he couldn't go fast haha.  Don't worry, the ZLs (Zone Leaders) came by to take his bike.  Sooooo, Elder Wood had to ride a sister's bike haha.

Then, during "hour of power", we went down this street and got like 8 contacts, but no new investigators.  Some of those contact were nice and some not so nice haha.  One of them, told us to buzz off and that was really funny.  I also tried to teach a Hispanic lady, but high school Spanish came and bit me in the booty, so I just had to give her a Spanish card.  But, I went home made made some phrases I could use if I ran into any more Hispanics, so I WILL HAVE A CHANCE!

At Chick-Fil-A, we saw a science dude wearing a lab coat and mad scientist hair.  He was playing a ukulele to some kids and teaching them science stuff, at the same time.  It was great haha 😁

On Thursday, it was WILD 😱😱🤤🤤😲😲!  So right when we woke up, at 6:30am, someone started banging on our door super loud, like BAM BAM BAM!!!  We were like, "What the heeeeeeeeeeck!!"  We totally thought we were about to get robbed.  Then, the people outside started yelling, "Open up little piggie!"  That was really weird.  Elder Osbourn called Elder Wood.  Elder Wood said, "Dude, someone is breaking in!!"  Osbourn said, "Oh really? That's nuts!"  Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand then we heard a piggie echo through the phone and we were like omgggggggggggggg.  So, we opened the door and 4 elders barged in with sill string yelling, "ONE YEAR! ONE YEAR!"  So yeah, the 4 Kingwood elders woke up at 4am to come celebrate Elder Wood and Osbourn being out a year in the mission and it was great.  They burned  🔥🔥 their shirts on our back porch and it got real smoky.  But, it's all good haha.  (We didn't burn down the apartment!)  We went to McDonald's and then finally started our day!

Nothing big happened, buuuuuut one guy didn't answer his door and instead he just shouted for us to get the heck outta there!!!! Haha.  That was funny cuz he was the last house we stopped at and Elder Wood said, "Elder Furphy, maybe this is like that 4th floor, last door" and we thought that person would be interested, but we were suuuuuuuuuuper wrong haha!  Then, we baked some cookies when we got back, so it was all worth it 😁😁.

On Friday, it was ok. Only cuz Elder Wood got wrecked with a fever and head cold. So yeah he was a little woosy, but he finally decided that we needed to go do some visits. So we went to follow up with Brian and he was totally high with his bro but that's all good, we had a fun conversation with them. We committed them to read the BoM again and I don’t know if they will, but hey, they miiiiight! Then Elder Wood got totally wrecked and had to sit down.  So we eventually just went home and he went straight to bed.

On Saturday, we did nothing cuz Elder Wood was super out of commission.  So, we didn't go anywhere until like 7pm and that was for our ward coordination.  We had some homemade GUMBOOOOOOOOOO  😁😁😄😊😊. So that made the day great.

Sunday we just went to ward council and then church. So yeah it was a good day but Elder Wood was still sick and currently is still sick. Elder Wood learned that you can get crazy sick here if you are out in the sun and don't drink enough water. Sooooo now we know. He was like, "BUT I DO DRINK WATER" but I guess not enough haha. So yeah half of this week was active. But yeah, it's all good.

We haven't had a formal sit down lesson yet, but, I know we will, in time.  We've had a ton of contact though and the people of Texas are super nice!  (Some not so much, but, I love then all the same 😊

But yeah, I have been reading the Book of Mormon super in depth and it is a very cool experience. I'm learning a lot. The mission life is good and I want you all to know that I pray for each of you every night! Don't worry about me cuz I have the best trainer in the world! Even if he is sick haha.

But yep! I will continue to try my best out here and help out all that I can! Until next week!
